I had a pre-op today, I went ahead and scheduled the procedure for next week (just incase) and came home to tell Michael. He was real excited about me getting the pre-op, he knew how much it would mean to me not to have to worry about my glasses/contacts anymore, but He said I couldn't get it done yet....too expensive! So we'll have to save for it! I could see that it kinda bothered him to have to tell me that, but we'll get it done sometime!

I NEVER take out my contacts. I really don't remember when the last time I changed them was. It's been forever since I even went and got new ones. And I hate wearing glasses. I don't like my field of vision to be limited...since I can't see AT ALL, when I wear my glasses I can only see what my lenses cover. It really bothers me not to be able to take everything in!!! Plus, I have this fear that if anything ever happens to me, it'll happen when I'm wearing my glasses! I wouldn't be able to see to get away!! So I think it'll be better for the health of my eyes to get it done, and safer for me if I ever get snatched!! I'll tell you one thing though..... they sure don't do it for free!!

It is expensive, way more than I thought It would be. When he told me the price, I thought it was for both eyes...then he dropped the bomb that it was per eye!!! It's right at 3500.00 total! They gave me a 20% discount b/c the doctor went to the University of Alabama and found out that I grew up in Auburn. He said it was because he felt "bad for me"!!! Like I was under privileged or something!! anyway, I'll take whatever can come off the top!!

The only problem the doc said was that I had "large pupils", whatever the heck that means.....He said mine we 2 times the size of normal people's.....everyone in the office seemed to notice. And they all felt the need to say something. Much like everyone in the ER would come by your room to see the dumb thing you did and whatever cool injury you ended up with!! The doc still said that I was a perfect candidate for the procedure....so one day.......

what are your thought on lasik? Have any of you ever had it done? What did you think of it??

Easter weekend!

We didn't do much of anything. Michael offered to hide an egg in the house, but I thought that was silly! The weather was awful, it was stormy and WINDY...and cold!! There is year round sunshine here in the dessert, and on the day where everyone WANTS to be outside, it decides to rain. That's New Mexico for ya! We went to church like everyone else and their mom. Then we came home and I made Spagetti and we chilled! He came home on Saturday, so we were perfectly fine holdin' up in the house :) It was a good day to stay in bed!

Hope you all were able to spend Easter with family!!

I got off early today so that I could get some stuff done. I had an appt. to get our taxes done...I know, I know, I'm a shmuck for waiting till the last minute...but hey we don't have to pay!
After that I went to get some groceries....
When I got home I left the garage door open so I could easily get to the trunk, our garage just barely fits my "family sized" car. I was getting some of the trash out of the car and when I looked up and there was this man standing just inside under the garage door. I cussed at him on accident...I felt bad because then I realized that he was trying to of all things, witness to me. He had some flyer for a church down the street for easter sunday services. He looked just as startled as I was. He just said "I said mam" in hopes of getting my attention before he scared the hell out of me. He handed me the flyer, told me "god bless" and practically ran away. I'm going to repent now!!!

Michael's been gone for about a week now, He was supposed to come home tonight and then leave again in the morning for two weeks. Instead he's stuck in Shamrock TX because of the blizzard and they are heading straight for their next training station.

over the past week or so I've been getting these strange calls from numbers all over the country. I don't know anyone in PA, MD, IL, VA or TX. But someone has been calling me non stop. I don't usually answer the phone if I don't know what the number is....sometimes I won't answer the phone even IF I know who the number belongs too....I'm not a phone person. I guess that if it's important they'll leave a message and if I want/have time to talk, I can call them back. The problem is these people don't leave messages...so I'm left wondering who the heck these are. If I call them back, it rings as a disconnected number.

Today when my phone rang I answered it and this is who it was!!!!

Somehow, I've been put on some sort of solitiation calling list and that's what these strange numbers were that have been calling over the past week. I got 5 today, so I spent most of my time today trying to get OFF this list! They say that this company does calling for other companies under different numbers. So when I take my name off one number there's like 20 more that they can still "legaly" call me from. I might have to change my phone number. The recording said that "I must have signed up for the calls, or given them permission to call me or else they wouldn't be able to". This lady suggested that I had filled out some online survey or bought something online that allowed them to have my number. I said that was BS and they had better not call me again...the lady appologized and when we hung up...I swear like 10 min. later I got ANOTHER call!! I don't know what else to do but to change my number!

Has it really been 4 years??

On March 19th my husband and I spent our 4th year anniversary together....It's crazy how fast it goes by. I can't believe it's been 4 years!!!! We didn't do much, we went to outback and ate steak, then rented a movie and chilled at home.

I guess that this also marks the 4 year anniversary that I've been blogging (on and off, of course)...that's crazy too! I started when Michael left for basic training. So this month ALSO marks our 4th year in the Army. SHEESH!...March is a month of many year marks for our family!!

Next year he'll be making the desicion as to whether or not to stay in or get out. Not sure which side of the fence I'm on right now....probably the one where he stays in.....(sorry family) but, now it's great pay and they pay for our housing. Plus we get FREE health care, dental, and vision. We'll get to have all our kids for free and they'll pay us more to have them. Now that I work in the health care field, I'm exposed to just how much people pay for family insurance...it's rediclous...600.00 a month for a family of 4....it's insane! If he reitres than we get insurance for the both of us for the rest of our lives....seems like being the governments slave may not be such a bad idea! Plus if he re-enlist, we'll get a good down payment on our first house...among other things.

Of course, tomorrow I could change my mind about all of this and be on the side that says "get out while you can!!"

Kids are still a far away concept for the both of us, I feel like we've got to be sure we've got a handle on US first. Sometimes, one of us will think it's a good idea to have a kid, but luckily the other is in his/her right mind and convinces the other that they're crazy. We'll be in trouble when the day comes that both of us think it's a good idea at the same time, no one will be the there to talk us out of it. I feel like we're behind the curve sometimes, most of the people that I know that have just gotten married (within the past 2 years or so) already have a kid....oh well, we get to eat out when ever we want!!

Well, I'm glad to say that I love my husband even more than I did 4 years ago. He gets better and better everyday. I'm lucky to have married such a wonderful guy!

Our wonderful little kitty, maryanne, has a very BIG problem. It's driving me and Michael crazy....ready for it....she's SHEDDING....ALOT!!! There's hair everywhere, and no matter how much we vacuum, it just doen't seem to help! It's gross, we both have lint rollers. We even have to vaccum each other before we go ANYWHERE, and the hair still finds us! She's a white cat, so her hair shows up very well on any color!! We have a brown swead chouch, and we have to clean the hair, b/c it's covered, about 2 times a day!!!! It's out of hand!

Other than changing our wardrobes to all white, I don't know what else to do! Any suggestions from you pet owners, and even those of your who aren't. Any idea is a good one....We love our cat, but this is a huge thorn in our side!

I jsut got back from yoga, I'm doing a lot better. I haven't had that same teacher since I've been back...that's good news. I've noticed it seems like its a little bit cooler in the other classes, I mean it's still hotter than hell, but I'm not loosing half my body weight in sweat. Maybe that was an advanced class I dropped into?? who knows! My teachers say I'm really flexible and that they can't tell that I've only been in class for 3 days....I try not to tell them I'm a yoga instructor, just incase they're just being nice to my face!!

Now I gotta go eat, then shower and get ready for class!!

Just got back from the spa. Michael got me a gift certificate for V-day and today was the first chance I've had to be able to use it. I got a 60 min massage, and a scalp treatment. Before the massage started the masseuse asked if there was anything I wanted her to focus on. Previously, I've told them what was bothering only to have my 1hr wasted away with it seeming like my neck, or my back was the only thing being worked on while I spend the whole time in agony because it hurts so darn bad. So this time, I was like "I'm fine nothing really needs worked on"....and "I want a "relaxing" massage". Those must be the magic words....it really was the best one I've had in a long long time!

What are your massage pet peeves??

I'm pretty sure I've never sweated as much as I did. Here's how it went down!!

Walk in to the front room to sign up.....the man at the desk is hardly wearing anything at all. He asked me if I've been there before, I said no and he gave me the "rules":
No drinking water
No leaving class
Try to do all the poses
I tried to express my nervousness for the class, to which he told me "It's hard, I won't lie...just don't leave"
I went to the dressing room and put my stuff away, I noticed that some of the women were walking out with little shorts on and swim suit tops...I thought "humph....either they're just trying to show off or I'm way over dressed"( I had shorts and a tank top on)
I walked into the "practice room" and was immediately confronted with the extreme heat...worse than I could have imagined!! I looked around and noticed all the men had speedos on. Some of them even had their booty cracks hanging out! Nobody seemed to notice the awful smell coming from something (or someone) in the room. I laid out my mat...my little claim to the room...
When the instructor came in, he was dressed in practically nothing, and starts the class. About 3 minutes into it I am sweating profusly...so much so that it's already dripping off my face and onto my mat. A few minutes later the teacher walkes up to me and quietly asks if I'd like him to get me a bigger towel, see I had brought a little hand towel. I acctually noticed my mistake as soon as I walked into the practice room, everyone else had these large towels that covered their entire mats, I was hoping no one would notice. After he came back with my larger towel he said that he didn't want me to slip when I really started to sweat, funny thing is I thought I was already "really sweating" since it was rolling in copious ammounts down my body!
About 30 minutes later, I felt like I was reaching the point of heat stroke, I needed to get out...fast! I started to walk out, and the instructor...on the mikrophone mind you, asks if I really needed to leave and when I stood there like a deer in headlights not saying anything, I suppose assumed that I would be "okay" and asked me to just sit down and wait until the feeling of death left me. I went back to my mat and I was at the point of tears! I really concentrated on just breathing so I wouldn't cry in front of everybody! After that, the class kinda turned around for the best, he was right the grim reaper did leave my side, and I caught on. I still desperatly wanted the class to be over, but If I got to out of breath I knew that If I just sat down that feeling would pass.
Needless to say the class was the hardest yoga I've ever tried to do, I lost 5 lbs of water weight. After class the instructor said I did a really good job for a firstimer, and I apologized for leaving. He seemed nicer than he did before and during class. It was the LONGEST 90 minutes of my life!! I feel great though, I'll sleep good tonight. Yoga really helps with my back problems really, it rids me of the pain I feel everyday if I'm not doing it. I can honestly tell when I haven't done it in a while. I think I'll go back, even though I had a rough first time. It'll be worth it!

Sunday, my niece Darcy celebrated her 4th birthday! I can remember being there when she was born! I wasn't married to Michael then, and there I was with this family that felt like my own, without Michael, he didn't seem to think he needed to wait the whole time...he could just come when Darcy got there, I remember holding her for the first time and Amy introduced me to darcy as her Aunt Heather. With Darcy I was lucky enough to be able to be around for most of her "baby time", with the twins, we've been gone for most of their's. I think I've only been able to be apart of one of her birthday parties, last year, when all she wanted was CAAAAKKKKEEEE!!! I miss her, I hope she know's how much I and her Michael Michael love her!

I didn't do much today, I was off so I decided to try and get some stuff done down here!
I cleaned the house
cleaned my car
bought groceries

my teeth are feeling better, they're still pretty sore, if I don't move my mouth for a while! You know that feeling after you've sprained your ankle and then try to move it after keeping it still for a long time....that's what my mouth feels like! I can eat most foods now...nothing really sharp or crunchy though! I was home for a week, I got cabin fever pretty bad! I cleaned my house from top to bottom! I threw out so much crap....2 whole car loads (packed full) to the goodwill. It felt good to get rid of all that stuff, If I hadn't seen it or used it in a year....It went out!

Michael hurt his neck a couple of weeks ago lifting weights and it was still bothering him so I MADE him go to the ER I work at to get some meds...(They gave him the good stuff and he's sleeping now!!) probably the best sleep he's gotten in 2 weeks! It's crazy how we have to put our foot down for our men to go and see a doctor! I'm glad he's finally taking it easy and getting better! Now I can get some sleep too :)

My face is still hurting a good bit, but I'm doing a ton better! I'm doing well enough now, so here's the story!

My alarm went off at 600
I tried to turn it off before it woke Michael up, he doesn't like it when I hit the snooze!
It didn't work! He shot up, and I laid back a little! I was super nervous.....I kept asking him what his surgery was like, I must have asked 100 times. He was great and re-told me everytime! He took me in and we had to wait for a little bit, we were early! The Doc. called me back!! They had the crash cart sitting right in the hallway!!! RIGHT IN THE HALLWAY!!! I suggested that it would be better for a patient's mental well being if they DIDN'T have to see that right before they had surgery!
The nurses took my vitals, and put me on the monitor. They asked me how I was doing and I was honest and told them that I was super scared! They gave me some valium to calm me down...It was good stuff, I don't really remember falling asleep. The doc. came in and that's it, He said something to me and then blank, I don't even know If I responded!!!!

Now with that said, I did wake up! I think what woke me up was him saying S***T and then I felt hammering on my right side! I remember it hurting, but not so much that it really registered! Then I was out again.

When it was time for me to wake up, I asked the nurse why he said the S word and I can't rembmer what she said. I couldn't feel my mouth, but it was REALLY dry!! I asked Michael what the squishy thing was poking out of my mouth and he laughed and said "that's your lip baby!" The doc gave us a cupon for a free smoothy and we stopped on the way home and got one. The doc had packed my mouth full of gauze and told me that I could take them out when I got home. Michael brought me home and I tried to drink my slushy....it just dribbled out of my mouth...it was a waste!!! I tried to take a pain pill, almost died trying to take it....I kept choking on it b/c I could't swallow, finally got it down and then slept the next two days!!

***I have to say that my husband has gone above and beyond the call of duty, He has treated me soooo well. He walked with me everywhere to make sure I didn't fall. I woke up the day of surgery and he'd left me a note with all the things I should and shouldn't do. ( he had to go back to work..the ARMY wouldn't give him the whole day off!!!) It turned out okay though, I slept all day anyway!! He kept calling me to make sure I was okay! When he came home he made sure I had stuff to eat, and plenty to drink, made sure I took my meds, tucked me in, and made sure I was comfortable...even down to the temperature of the room...if it was the perfect sleeping temp. He only laughed at me once...when it looked like I had soft balls in my cheeks...he called me a chipmunk, and then went and got me some KFC mashed potatoes! I love him!

Michael, If you read this.....thank you for taking such good care of me! I'm so lucky to have you in my life! You made everything okay and more comfortable! Thanks for being so patient with me and my recovery! I love you so much!

My face is much bigger than it ought to be, and I remember stuff from that the doctor was saying while I was supposed to be asleep, I also felt what he was doing....not bad enough to where It hurt, I just wasn't totally asleep

I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning! I am in NO WAY looking forward to it. I have never had an operation, or stitches, or been sedated in any way. I think the thing that worries me most is the fact that I know the medicine they're going to use, we use it in the ER all the time to sedate people so we can put joints back in or if we need to stitch up a kiddo....they're never really asleep...they just don't care! They still say Ouch and moan...they don't remember anything, but they're NOT asleep!! I'm afraid it'll hurt or I'll be allergic to the meds.
Michael took the day off to be with me and drive me home. Please pray for me, I know getting this done is like a right of passage or something like that, it's REALLY routine, but I'm scared!

If only all our lives could be this easy!!

AFTER 4 LONG MONTHS OF A MISSING CAT.....MARYANNE HAS MADE IT HOME!!!!!

For those of you that don't know, sometime in June Maryanne snuck out without us noticing. We put up flyers all around base, I went to the shelters EVERYDAY for about a month and a half! No luck, I actually saw in their dead animal pickup log a cat matching her description that was found right outside the gate...(we live about 100 yards from this gate) so I figured it must have been her. I came home and told Michael and I cried...it was sad! For a while Michael had been talking about getting another pet, I just wasn't ready to have one! We had Maryanne since she was a baby, and I really did love her! I started getting rid of her stuff gradually, and hadn't given it all away yet. But we kinda accepted the fact that she wasn't coming back!

Skip 4 months to Monday morning....I was at work and I got this call from Hume Vets and the conversation went like this:

Me: hello?
Vet: Hi is this Heather Brock?
Me: yeah????
Vet: This is ***** from Hume Vet clinic.... We've found your cat!!
Me: huh???
Vet: Are you missing a cat??
Me: well yeah, but for about 4 months now!!
Vet: REALLY...4 months....well we've got her...when do you want to come an get her, our address is.....
Me:Wait are you sure...what color is she??
Vet: (in a strange tone) white????
Me: Be there in a flash!!

Everyone at work had actually helped me make the signs to post up, so the news spread like wild fire. It was so exciting to bring her home!

She cried the whole way home and I was concerned that she wouldn't remember us or our house, but as soon as I got here out of the box she poped up like "hey I know this place"...she kinda snuck around, smelling everything....and then I pulled out some of her stuff that she loved and still had her fur on it, she perked right up and started going crazy!!! Jumpin' around and lovin on us! It was great! I had to go and get her a new littter box and some odds and ends but for the most part I hadn't realized how much I hadn't given away yet! Right now she's laying on her ottaman(sp).

It's the ugliest thing you've ever seen, but this was the thing that reminded her of us! We kept it around after we gave away all our other funiture b/c she liked it. She sleeps on it, playes with it, and scratches the heck out of it...and she LOVES it!!!

UPDATE:

Yesterday, I was at work, and this lady and man came in the doors, they obviously worked in the hospital somewhere and looked as if they were lost. So, I asked if there was anything I could help them with and the lady said well, yes, There's a girl here who lost her cat for 4 months...I gasped and ran over to her, hugged her and said...."It was me!!!!" She laughed, and told me that Maryanne had been at her house for about 3 weeks, "she was really skinny when I found her but I fattend her up" she said!---- I did notice that she looked mighty healthy for being lost for 4 months!!---- We introduced ourselves and turns out she works about 30 feet away from the ER...in the lab, I go in there about a million times a day!! I've never met this lady, but she found me! She said she only took Maryanne to the vet b/c if she wasn't microchiped she was going to keep her! She said that she was waiting at the vet's office while they called me b/c she was waiting to hear if I still wanted her! (really who could imagine not wanting Maryanne) Anyway, when she heard I worked in the ER she wanted to meet me! I'm so glad she did! I told her we were life long friends, and if she ever wanted to catsit....let me know! I was going to get her something as a little thank you, but what do you get a lady that saved your cat?

All day I kept singing..."It's a small world after all!!!"

Duke City Marathon

Last Sunday morning, we got up bright and early because Michael's unit decided (at the last minute in marathon world) to run a 26+ mile marathon~ They were going to do it as a team...since they JUST decided to do this and the marathon was 5 days away. Most of them got a 5-6 mile stretch, I think Michael got a 7 mile strectch...when I asked him why they didn't put him on the finishing leg, he said you have to put the fastest guy on the longest stretch with what, I think, was a little smile on his face! This time they all worked together to win the marathon team division. They beat all the Military folks which is what Michael really wanted to do!

Women of Destiny

Women of Destiny 2008 was a hit. We had almost 1300 women there for the weekend. It was incredible! A few of us ladies from our praise and worship did the worship for the conference. It was like leading P&W at a youth convention again. They all came up front and jumped....the energy was amazing! Of course there were the speakers, they always have the "youth camp format", holy spirit night, get saved night, etc...last year I remember thinking it wasn't all that great. This year I went expecting something great to happen. The format was mostly the same as last year, but I really payed attention this year...I got a lot out of it! I came back with a new passion for god, prayer, and worship! We really have to gaurd ourselves from getting into ruts. Like any relationship you have to work.

Anyway, these are some of the pics from the conference. I love these ladies! We had a blast, and after getting a combined 10 hours sleep in 72 hours...I can still say I love these ladies!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning, heading to a women's conference! Our praise and worship team always does the worship segments there. I'm super excited! It's like going to youth camp for women! We'll sing for hours and hours and then get up early and do it all over again! I always come home super tired and a lot learned! They always have prominent women from around NM....I'm really now sure how they pick the speakers! I have no clue what their credentials are, they usually introduce themselves and list everything they think is important. They're all usually pretty good!

Well after church, Michael and I went to Taco Cabana...it's a great little Mexican restaurant here in ABQ. Then Michael wanted to go play racquet ball at the gym. He seems to think the more I play the better I'll get....well, he and I both realize that he was wrong. I'm terrible!!! We play to 15 and I got to start the game at 14...if that tells you just how bad I am! Michael says I'm getting better though!

Now we're just sittin around talkin about getting old!! He's drinking some gross egg nog and i'm about to eat some PF Chang's fried rice! Can't wait to go to work tomorrow!

Slowly we've been adding to our house, the newest addition is this dining room set! I got it from our church, they were remodling and were going to just store this stuff for forever I suppose until I offered to buy it!

This is the view from the door. I also got the coffee table and 4 end tables from the church.

Now...I have to tell you how much we got ALL this stuff for! We'd been holding out for some time before we bought a dining room table and new coffee table and other furniture. We wanted to make sure we got a good price and great quality! When I asked how much they'd sell me all this stuff for....I was honestly expecting so much that we wouldn't be able to afford it all! When she told me...I about dropped the phone!!

I wanted to try and curl my hair with hot rollers. I had never been able to do it correctly, the rollers would never stay IN my hair!! So I loaded some of the "how to" videos from You Tube and watched to see what I was doing wrong. As you can see, I did manage to get it right.....maybe a little too right!!!!

This one's kind of a funny story! This guy in the picture (one of the guys in his unit) passed michael just before the turn to to home stretch...they sprinted for a few feet, until Michael slowed down seeming to accept defeat! Little did Blanco (the guys name) know that Michael was just giving him a false sense of security...Blanco thinking that he had it in the bad slowed up a little...and wouldn't you know that 10 feet before the finish line....here comes speedy....If you look closely you can see Michael's feet behind Blanco's. Michael won for his unit and Blanco a second behind!! It was a photo finish and one I'm sure Blanco will remember forever!!

In disbelief that he stole the victory!!

I had a very bad day and there's no one here to talk to about it with!! It really bothers me when I learn that I have offended someone! It also bothers me to learn that I have inadvertently done something to make a person think less about me! It turns out that I did both today at seperate times, and was giving a stern talking to twice today....It just caught me off guard, ya know? I was really under the idea that I was making a very good impression with everyone. So to hear that someone thought I was "lazy", even though I bust my butt and if one person can't find me I'd hardly call that being lazy!! It just hurt my feelings, I really work hard! I thought that was being noticed, and turns out it wasn't. I'd hoped that if something like this would have come up....someone would know me well enough to know that I was BUSY with something else, not just sitting around!
I joke a lot...in the medical field I truly believe that you HAVE to have a strong sense of humor to make it through. So apparently I said something that offended someone, and also something that was taken out of context and IT offended someone! My charge nurse talked to me....then about 3 hrs later another nurse thought she should clear the air....and then there was the very grumpy nurse, that just yelled and barked orders at me all day!
Then there's the patients that were extra mean today, gotta love them right? The last nurse was really just trying to clear the air between us, but after talking with her I just couldn't stop crying.....luckly it was at the end of the day...I felt like a retard for crying so much! I have a real problem I think with confrontation...I always cry! I cried all the way home....It makes me crazy!!!!!!!!!!

Now I need chocolate or ice cream! Or a certian husband to call, that would make me feel better!!

Michael left Sunday for WLC (Warriors Leader Course) in El Paso, Texas about 5 hours away. He'll be gone for 2 weeks! About 4 and a half hours after he left I get a call....
him: honey, I have a little situation
me: what did you leave?
him: I'm missing a WHOLE bag of stuff
me: okay???
him: Can you look around for it...maybe I left it in my truck...
me: sure....are you asking me to bring it to you?
him: well.....
me: okay...let me find it first
.....about an hour later......
me: sighs.....how do I get to El Paso!
(we ended up meeting half way, because I had to work bright and early the next morning)

Last night....
I get a message at work on my cell phone!
him: hey honey....I left my body armor...can you FEDEX it to me!!!

I love that man!!!!

Today we decided to try a new route!

This is where we were going to climb...but it was WAY too windy! So our day of rock climbing turned into a long hike! This picture was taken at the start of the trail and those were the rocks we were going to! Down at the bottom the wind wasn't so bad, but at the top, it was a New Mexican Hurricane!

We were almost back to the truck!!! And we were soooo tired and frustrated!

All Michael wanted for christmas was some climbing gear....so that's what he got! It's just now gotten warm enough out here to be able to use it! We found a place up in Placitas New Mexico...and now we're there pretty much every weekend! After I got over my fear...I'm lovin it too! The first time we went together at Boulderfield in AL I fell pretty hard! These Rocks are a good 2 to 3 hundred feet high! I almost cried....michael offered to take me to the littlest rock he could find about 4 or 5 feet high then it had a ledge that if I felt comfortable enough I could go down the rest of the way...well I conquered my fear and now I'm a rock climing fool!! This past weekend we went with some of his unit guys...I thought that it might be a little dangerous with so much testosterone...but it wasn't we were all very safe!

and yes Mrs. B...I have a VERY sofisticated Medic bag incase one of us gets hurt....and I know the number to 911 :)

I think it got a little to much for me! :) After working 3 nights a week, school, and church services, practices, etc. I was NEVER home...and if I was home I was trying to sleep!! So I had to make some BIG changes! So I changed to days (3 a week) so I'm home by 7:30 and school is during the day now, and I'm taking some time off from church ( just the there all the time part!) and now I'm home a lot more. There hasn't been much at the hospital that comes to memory that's really exciting! Apart from the occasional abscess, and the flu there isn't much going on!

They were both old! Well, one lady was....the man that passed was in his early 50's. He had a massive heart attact! The lady was about a million years old...and she died b/c her time was up!

Well so much has happened over the past two weeks...I've learned too much for my licensure. Knowing more that you're allowed to do is frustrating!!

My first week, I worked one overnight shift and came back the next night for another. When I woke up to get ready for work I noticed I didn't feel right. I went into work anyway...after all I am the "new kid". I got there and felt VERY feverish and just plain lousy! After about 4 hours I decided I'd better tell somebody...after all I WAS in the ER!! A nurse gave me a strep test and it came back neg. so I went about my night. A couple hours later I noticed I started to get the chills....(now I NEVER get a high fever...I can remember once in my life I've had above a 100F)...I knew something was Really wrong. I had the nurse take my temp and I had a 103.6!!! They sent me home and told me to drink lots of fluids...you know the drill! I came home and didn't leave the bed for 3 days.....no food and rediculous amounts of water and this crazy high fever that I just couldn't get rid of. On sunday I still wasn't feeling anybetter...infact, I felt way worse so I decided I'd better get to the ER! I got there and went right back (they weren't really that busy) I got lots of blood tests and 2 LITERS of fluid. My temp was still high, and my heart rate was too high for someone who had just spent the last 3 days in the bed! My face swelled b/c there was so much fluid in my system! They told me they were worried about pneumonia, but after tests proved that wasn't the case....they told me I had a Respritory Infection! One night working in the ER and I was out for a total of 6 days!! I've never felt so bad. When I could finally go back, they told me that something like that ALWAYS happens to newbies!! So now it's been about a week and a half and I'm still congested...better, but still workin on all that crud!!

I worked this past sunday night and monday night. Sunday we worked 12 codes in 6 hours...(a code is where a person goes into cardiac arrest or respiritory arrest.) 2 didn't make it, the rest stabilized! I bagged my first dead body....I had to close her mouth!!! I kept watching her to make sure she was REALLY dead! You know, making sure she didn't move or anything!
I observed an Anoscope this morning....(Anoscope...they stick a probe up your hiney to see inside)...that was crazy...and a lot cleaner than I thought it would be! I was able to sit in on a Heart Catheterization(sp) Lab this morning too. They put a catheter in through the Femoral Artery and snake it up to the heart, inject some dye and you can actually see the blood pumping throught the heart. They do this procedure to find closed arteries and veins due to plaque build up. After they locate the blockage...they send a balloon in throught the catheter and blow it up...expanding the vein/artery and allowing the blood to flow more freely! It's crazy cool to watch! The patient is awake the whole time!
We had a young lady come in Sunday night and her heart rate was in the 230's....I actually caught it on the monitor....and alerted the tech. He sent me to get the doc. and check on the pt. Once we got her in her room, the doc told her that we wanted to give her a medicine called adenosine....it would stop her heart and then sort of re-program it so it would beat normally. Being the newbie I am....I was wating for this big dramatic ordeal!!! Her heart was about to stop right? They'd push the medicine and stare at her monitor it was very tense as you can imagine....now the pt's awake for this....she said "I feel funny"...and then you'd see this flat line go across the screen....and we all hold our breath....wating for the normal rythm to come back.............then......it did! she never lost conciousness....just kept saying "I feel funny....I don't feel good"....the doc. kept telling her to look at him! I was all ready for the crap to hit the fan....but it didn't!
The two patients that didn't make it...I was in the room both times with the family--that was tough to watch!

I heard back from them....The guy that makes the schedule's was on vacation. He called me at 7:30 in the morning to discuss my hours....geezzzz! I think he got from our conversation that I wanted to work nights....(I have no clue how he got that idea?) but I'll be starting Thurs. night. 7p to 7a! I've never stayed away the entire night in my whole life....never...i've never made it!!! I also have to work Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night! I told him on Sunday I'd tell him if nights were for me or not! I'll keep yall updated about my progress when I'm not asleep!!! Luckly Michael will be out of town most of this week, and he'll be staying up all night too...so when he gets home we'll be able to sleep together...and I won't be missing out on anything! I'm looking forward to sharing some good stories with you all.....while protecting patient privacy of course!!...for anyone who might read this....It's the ER....in the middle of the night.....in ALBUQUERQUE!!!...THERE'S BOUND TO BE SOME GOOD STORIES!!

I finished my pre-employment "to do list" and they still haven't called me to tell me when I'm put on the schedule! I've called about a million times, and even went down to the ER to see the "schedule maker man"...he wasn't there! He only works nights! What else should I do. I've quit my other job, the week before last. I was kinda expecting to go right on? I'm going crazy here in the house! I don't know what else to do...any suggestions?

Thanks for all your help! I think we keep it for a while longer. So far we still have'nt found anything cheaper there that we couldn't buy at the commisary. We went today to look for a wirelss router and best buy beat costco by about 50 dollars. Gas still is the winner. It's 10 cents cheaper there than anywhere else. When we went today, we got to taste all the samples. It was a ton of fun!! I hope it will turn into a saturday ritual. Do you guys know if they have the same samplers every weekend of if the get different ones in?

I still haven't started my new job. I've completed the hire process and now I'm just waiting for them to call me and say they've put me on the schedule. I'm really excited about it.

Michael and I have spent ALLLLL day pretty much doing stupid college work. I forgot how much work it was to be a successful student! Luckly we've got both the Desktop and the Laptop on line. All of michael's classes are online and most of my course work is online. We've just gotten both computers linked up to the internet today so for the past 3 weeks we've been trying not to step on each other to much. I was about ready to draft up a computer schedule!

We just got a Costco membership. We went in last night and realized that in order to buy food there you have to buy enough for a 20 person family!!! We got 3lbs of Deli meat.....3lbs....What the heck are we going to do with all that? We also got 2 gallons of milk, thinking it would be cheaper than our commissary...it wasn't! It looks like the only benefit we're going to get from it is the gas....it's 10 cents cheaper there. Is there anything that you guys only get from Costco? If you have a membership....what things keep you coming back?

I started my spring semester Tuesday. I'm taking Advanced Trauma. There's an ungodly amount of reading to do and extra re-search if I'd like to be accepted into paramedic school. You have to be the top of your classes in the pre-requisite courses for obvious reasons. So I'm trying really hard. I went yesterday to purchase my books....165.00 for two books. I think it should be illegal to "price gouge" books that college students need! I searched around for the lowest prices but they were all pretty much the same. I wish that colleges were like high school...they provide you with all the books you'll need! On another note: I went for an interview as an Emergency Room Technician. I'm supposed to do a job shadow tomorrow and I'll know within next week if I got the job. It'll be the same hours I'm working now, but with better pay, better benefits, and fewer days. The only draw back is that I'll be working 12 hour days. It's something that I'll really care about so I pretty optimistic that the time I'm there will be well spent and will go by quickly!

Imagine my surprise when these showed up. When we bought these we were told that this only came in a mocha/brown trim, and olive/tan trim. We were told that the one on the show room floor was the mocha/brown trim. It was really more of a tan/brown trim but we liked it so it's what we got. Then when the delivery people showed up today....this is what mocha/brown REALLY looks like! I wanted a brown couch to begin with but was lead to believe that it didn't come in this color.....WELL...I SUPPOSE IT DOES! It's not the tan one but I think I like this one better! The only problem is that Maryanne has white fur...so I'm sure I'll be vacuuming it often!

What do you think?
I still want to do the blue/tan/chocolate color combo. I think it'll be better with the darker sofa?

okay...tomorrow they're bringing my new furniture and like I said before my problem is that every thing in my house is tan. I've decided that I'm going to to the Tan/Choclate brown/baby blue color combo! I was trying to decide what to do with my curtians (they're tan)...someone suggested dying them. Has anyone ever tried this? I'd like to do them in Chocolate. The lady said that I could dye them in my bath tub...shouldn't I be concerned about it staining?

Getting Better!

So New Years Eve...my MIL comes down stairs and offers to take me to the doctor. Her room is directly above where Michael and I were staying so I'm sure I kept them up all night with my constant sneezing and coughing! Of course everyone of the doc. offices were closed for holiday so we ended up in American Family Health...the one across from Chick-fil-a. The doctors and nurses were very nice, but the 4.5 hour wait sorta took it's toll on me. I had to try REALLY hard to be nice back. The doc spent a total of about 2 min with me and deducted that I had caught an acute upper respiratory infection and needed a steriod shot (those hurt like MAD!!) I had to have some blood tests done and then got the green light for the shot. I alsogot put on a decongestant. After we got home we decided that we were going to eat with Ma and Pa Brock and then go spend the New Year with Nicole and Matt. After dinner I just sorta zonked out as michael put it...he had to call Nicole and tell her we wouldn't be comming--The next day the shot must have helped b/c I was fine...still a little snotty but the sinus pressure wasn't bad at all. We boarded the plane for home, Maryanne,our cat, was silent the entire time. Which was a welcomed change since the first flight we took with her she howled like a dog the whole flight. The vet suggested Benadryl but warned that It could speed her up instead of slowing her down...she said the likelyhood that maryanne would react that way was slim...but she was wrong!!! So once we got to AL we took her back to the vet to get some TRANQS!!! They worked like a charm! After we landed it was lunch time then....we went to spend our Christmas money....on FURNITURE!!!!!!! I'm so excited! We're supposed to get it sometime next Saturday...I'll post before and after pics....The only problem is that we ended up with a tan couch. I've got tan carpets, tan curtians, tan everything...so I need some color suggestions. I know I'll need a colored rug and new curtians...to break up the space...what color should I go with?

I think I've finally come down the the Brock sickness that's going around. It's Bronchiolitus! I'm in the beginning stages so my throat's just super sore! I'm trying the reverse psychology method of not really admiting to myself that I'm sick.

This morning we ate at the Waffle House---yumm! Michael, Amy, and I were supposed to head to Boulderfield and try out some of Michael's new rock climbing gear he got for Christmas. It rained all day so we decided to try again tomorrow! Michael got an ungodly amount of money in gift cards to Books a Million---I think everyone had the same idea in what to get him---so we headed to BAM to spend it all since there aren't any in NM. Amy and I decided that while he was in BAM we'd go over to the Old Navy. They were having an after Christmas 50% off sale. I got some sleep clothes for pretty cheap. After a short trip to Wal-mart we headed home. Michael and I played chess and I got slaughtered as usual. Michael and his dad went and sat in the woods during the only dry spell of the day. I took that time to sleep. Now we're about to eat whats left of Christmas dinner again...for the 4th day! I've just learned that Amy is going to knit me a hat.....super exciting!!!

Amy and I spent the day spending our Christmas money. We went all over the place and succeded in spending it all! I finally invested in a hot new pair of boots! They were originally 168.00 and I bought them for only 50! There were tons of buy one get one free sales at the mall and I racked up! Michael looked a little scared when I showed up with all the BIG bags, but I told him that the damage looked worse than it was. Amy and I decided that the family should get all dressed up and head to olive garden! We just wanted a good excuse to wear our new duds! The Olive Garden in Alabaster was packed--over an hour wait---I hear that's the norm for that Olive Garden. It's redicilous! We decided to eat at Ruby Tuesday's. After dinner we came home and changed clothes and headed to the bowling alley! I must say that I wiped the floor with all of them. I was on fire!!! I bowled a 183...my highest score ever! It was definately my lucky night!

I got to see the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crator, and Las Vegas!
We've gotten used to michael's new unit.
It's been one heck of a year! I'm really looking forward to the next! I hope you all had a very Merry christmas!

sorry I've been gone for so long...just got my computer back...

Life's been good. Christmas went well, we were able to fly home. Michael bought me a new diamond ring!!! I know, I'll post some new pictures as soon as I get home! We're still in Alabama right now spending time with the fam. There's a lot to say about life since the last post but to much for tonight! I'll post some more tomorrow!

Yesterday 2 Years Ago!!

I was getting Married! Yep, our 2 year anniversary was yesterday!!!! We had a great time, after Michael got off work we got all dressed up and headed over to the resort and casino and said that we'd play black-jack until we got enough money to buy dinner at the "high rollers" resturant--when had won enough-- we went up (to the top floor) and they told us that they only served dinner wed through sat...so we went to the resorts steak house instead! Which was also very nice--a good place for a nice dinner! The steaks were awesome and we got to talk a bit! After dinner we thought we'd try to win back our dinner money about 70 bucks--so back to the black jack table....We quit when both of us was about 60 over what we started with~! So we had our anniversary steak dinner for FREE!!! And made out with a little over 2 hundred dollars, "gettin paid to have fun!"
We got home late and watched I love Lucy until we fell asleep!
It was a good Day
I tried to find some of our wedding pictures on Cd, but I probably put them somewhere when we moved here so I 'wouldn't forget where they were'...you know how that goes!
